Visualizing Circular Pacific: Logo Challenge

A call for Pasifika designers to shape the visual identity of a circular economy initiative of networking and accountability to boost recycling across the Pacific Island countries.

CHALLENGE BACKGROUND

The Circular Pacific via Regional Recycling Network (CP-RRN) Project is a regional initiative led by the Asian Development Bank in collaboration with SPREP and 14 Pacific Developing Member Countries.

Pacific Island countries generate relatively high per capita municipal solid waste compared to the global average. Geographic isolation, small market size, and high transportation costs make recycling economically challenging. As a result, waste often accumulates in landfills, is openly burned, or leaks into rivers and the ocean, harming ecosystems, fisheries, tourism, and public health.

CP-RRN aims to establish a regional recycling network that aggregates and processes targeted waste streams such as PET plastics, cardboard, used oils, e-waste, and end-of-life vehicles. By leveraging economies of scale, harmonized policies, and private sector engagement, the project promotes circular economy solutions tailored to Small Island Developing States.

The project supports regional strategies including the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent and Cleaner Pacific 2025, and aligns with ADB’s Strategy 2030.

The logo developed through this challenge will serve as the visual identity of this regional transformation effort.
