APPLICATION PHASE

Until October 13, 2024 at 23h59 [GMT+8] 

 

The proposal should be submitted on or before Ocotber 13, 2024, with a deadline set at 23:59 [GMT+8]. The following content should be provided along with the filled-out application form:

1. Team Introduction: Name and professional background (including a short 1-page CV) for all members of the team submitting applications.
2. Pitch Deck: Presentation with:
  • Idea and value proposition
  • Details on the underpinning technology and data inputs
  • Explanation of the solution
  • Details on how to maintain the product in the long run
  • Key partners involved in the project
  • Why ADB should partner and invest in developing this solution
  • Specific mentoring needs (optional)
  • Please provide the presentation in PDF format.
3. Prototype or Wireframe (Optional): Optional but preferred. This may be submitted as a URL to the solution, video, or PDF format.
4. A video pitch (Optional): A demonstrative video to describe and showcase your solution. Maximum of 3 minutes.

EVALUATION

November, 2024 
 

A panel of experts from ADB and industry experts will evaluate the qualifying applications and shortlist up to 8 submissions to proceed to the next stage. The 8 shortlisted teams will be notified by November, 2024.

PITCHING

November, 2024

 

The finalist teams will have an opportunity to pitch their final solutions to the board of Jurors during the Final Pitching Event in December 2024. Shortlisted teams will receive detailed instructions about the event participation via email.

During the event, the teams will have 5 minutes to present their pitch decks and give a demonstration of their proposed solution. After the presentation, the Jury will pose questions to the team.

PILOT PHASE

January - June, 2025

 

The selected team will pilot their solution together with ADB and its partner organizations in a selected country in Asia and the Pacific.

ELIGIBILITY

  • The challenge is open to startups, research institutions, and organizations globally. We encourage participation from multidisciplinary teams that bring together expertise in AI, robotics, healthcare, and gerontology.
  • The proposed solution should be at least Minimal Viable Product (MVP) or Proof of Concept (PoC) stage or be on Technology readiness scale (TRL 5) or higher.
  • The team should have at least two people working on the solution and ready to pilot test the solution together with ADB and its selected member country.
  • The team should be residents or citizens of one of the Asian Development Bank’s Member countries.
  • The team should own all the rights to the submitted solutions and only present their original work.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The projects will be assessed following the criteria below:

  • Operational Feasibility and Scalability (20%)

  • Practicality of implementation and potential for scaling. The solution can be piloted with the provided funding.

  • Impact and Benefits (20%)

  • Expected improvements in the quality of life for aging populations.

 
 
  • Co-creation with users (20%)

  • The extent the solution has been co-created together with the users, takes the elderly users into consideration in the design, and evidence of adoption of the solution. The extent of which the solution takes into account diversity.

  • Innovation and Originality (20%)

  • Novelty and creativity of the solution.

 
 
 
 
  • Team Expertise (10%)

  • Capability and experience of the team to execute the project. Team’s motivation to work together with ADB to improve the lives of the aging population.

  • Technical Merit (10%)

  • Robustness and reliability of the technology.
