EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

March 26 – June 11

Create an account on the platform (or log in with your existing credentials) and ‘Participate’ as an individual or team up with other members!

 

This Challenge is open to startups, academe, research organizations, independent researchers, technology providers, and other public and private entities from ADB member countries. We highly encourage having a diverse set of team members who have multiple skills to address the challenges.

 

The proposal should be submitted on or before June 11, 2021 MIDNIGHT [GMT+8] with a deadline set at 23:59 [GMT +8]. The following content should be provided: 

 

Team Introduction: Name and professional background (including short 1-page CV) for all members of the team submitting applications.

Expression of Interest: Download the 'presentation' and include information on the following:

     - Overview of the solution
     - Explanation of the approach and how it aligns with the challenge
     - Details on how the challenge integrates the technical components: (i) energy efficiency;
        (ii) climate impact; (iii) disaster resilience; (iv) and use of smart digital
         information systems 
     - Details on the underpinning technology and data inputs 
     - Details of partners in DMCs 
     - Examples of previous similar projects or solution demonstration
     - Cost estimate and % of project costs required from ADB 
 
 
The presentation should be no more than 25 slides.

Teams may also provide one slide on their specific mentoring needs if they are selected to proceed to the next phase. Please provide the presentation in PDF format. 

Prototype or wireframe of the proposed solution (optional), which may be submitted as an URL to the solution, video, or PDF format.

SELECTION OF FINALISTS

 

June 12 – 25

Submitted proposals will be reviewed by the panelists. Proposals will be assessed based on the following criteria:

Impact - 20%

     - Novelty - 20%
     - Scalability - 20%
     - Value for Money - 10%
     - Project Team - 10%
     - Local Partners - 15%
     - Mitigation of Potential Risks - 5%
 
The detailed criteria can be found at the bottom of this page. Up to 5 teams will be selected for the next round. The results announcement will be made on June 26, 2021

TECHNICAL PROPOSAL SUBMISSION

 

June 26 – July 25

 

Shortlisted solutions will prepare and submit a detailed technical proposal.

 

The shortlisted teams will receive feedback from ADB experts and subject matter experts on the presentations that they submitted for the Expression of Interest. The teams will then refine their proposed solutions in the form of a Detailed Technical Proposal. 

 

During this time, the teams may pose questions to the Challenge organizers through the platform messaging system in order to strengthen their solution and Detail Technical Proposal presentation. Participants will need to submit their refined project by July 25, 2021 at 23:59 [GMT+8]. 


Details on the (i) Detailed Technical Proposal presentation structure and content; and (iii) Second Evaluation judging criteria will be provided to the teams. 

 

Up to 5 teams will be selected to proceed to the final Pitching Day

FINAL PITCHING


August 23 - 27

 

The Finalists to pitch to the panelists. The Final Pitching sessions will take place on the week commencing August 13. Participants are required to upload their Final Proposals by August 7, 2021 at 23:59 [GMT +8].

 

As in the previous round, detailed feedback on the Detailed Technical Proposals will be provided to teams in order for them to be able to refine and strengthen their Final Proposals.

 

Details on the (i) Final Proposal presentation structure and content; and (iii) Final Pitching judging criteria will be provided to the teams. 

 

These Final Pitching conference calls will be scheduled individually with teams and the board of Jurors and will take place virtually. Finalist teams will have 30mins to present their Final Proposal presentations and give a demonstration of their proposed solution. After the presentation, the Jury will pose questions to the team before evaluating the solutions.

 

The results announcement will be made no later than July 31, 2021.

Does the solution include local partners and supply chains?
