JOINING THE CHALLENGE
- How do I talk to my manager about applying for this challenge? Do I need their approval?
For external participants, it is up to you if you want to let your manager know of your interest in the challenge. Once we select the semi-finalists, those semi-finalists will be announced and that would be a good time to speak with your manager. Ultimately, if you are selected at the Final Pitching Event to develop your project further, you will need to let your manager know of your intent to participate. It may be better to inform your manager in advance and we will be happy to support you in those conversations if needed.
- Is there a minimum number of years of experience to apply for this challenge?
There is no minimum years of experience to apply for this challenge. The only requirement we are looking for is that the employee has a great idea. Please note that we also require a strong commitment from the employee to work on the idea, so the employee must be able to manage the time and workload independently.
- My staff members/subordinates would like to join the challenge. If they are selected, will they leave my team?
During the entire duration of the challenge, employees remain in the existing positions with their existing responsibilities. They will stay in your team even if they are selected as the winner of the challenge. Teams are expected to consider the roles and responsibilities of the team members in the application and design of the solution, and how they can implement the pilot if selected as the winner. It can include arrangements such as contracting consultants or service providers to implement the solutions. Therefore, the amount of time to be spent from the core team members can be arranged at the supervisory level to be determined by the teams.
WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?
- How am I compensated if I am selected for the seed funding?
For external participants, you can consider this project as a side work along with your main duty. Organizers will not be providing compensation for participation and implementation of the project, but the winning teams will have an opportunity to receive a seed funding of up to USD 10,0000 that can be used to pilot test the idea by recruiting consultants. It is up to the team to decide how to make the best use of the seed fund to implement the project.
