Quantum Innovation Challenge: Joint-Loss Modelling for Disaster Risk Financing
Can quantum computing improve how we model correlated disaster losses? Join ADB’s Quantum Innovation Challenge to develop and benchmark innovative approaches for disaster risk financing and resilience applications.
CHALLENGE OVERVIEW
In this challenge, we aim to evaluate whether quantum or quantum-inspired approaches can improve the modelling of correlated disaster losses that inform disaster risk financing instruments, parametric product design, and regional risk pooling models.
Catastrophe risk models must estimate how losses from a single disaster can impact multiple locations and assets simultaneously. However, limited data and complex correlations make these risks difficult to model, creating an opportunity to explore quantum and quantum-inspired approaches.
How might we develop more accurate and robust catastrophe risk models that overcome limited historical disaster data and account for correlated losses across diverse geographies and exposures, enabling better disaster risk financing and risk management decisions?
Join ADB’s Quantum Innovation Challenge and help shape the future of disaster risk financing by demonstrating how quantum and quantum-inspired approaches can address one of the field’s most complex modelling challenges.
