Remote Monitoring and Evaluation of ADB Projects using Internet of Things
Real-time visibility into ADB’s projects performance
CHALLENGE OVERVIEW
Timely and relevant support needs to be coupled with the ability to assess the effectiveness of ADB-financed COVID-19 response initiatives in the future. ADB designs and implements projects using project-level results frameworks. To be an effective development partner, ADB needs to remain agile and nimble in tackling the distance and resource constraints that the pandemic has brought about and tap into innovative and disruptive technologies to enhance remote monitoring and evaluation of projects.
This challenge is an opportunity to design project monitoring and evaluation solutions that can leverage IoT technology for the following sectors, but not limited to, water, energy, transportation, healthcare, and urban development.
How can we use IoT technology in ADB projects to obtain data-driven insights and timely feedback that enables evidence-based decision making, including midcourse corrections, to improve project performance?
Areas of Interest:
Internet of Things (IoT) is changing the future of technologies and how devices connect and behave around us. The use of IoT to collect data around ADB projects and transfer that real-time over a network without requiring human involvement makes it an attractive solution at such a time as this.
IoT applications are expected to equip billions of everyday objects with connectivity and intelligence. It is already being deployed extensively, in various domains, namely:
- Wearables
- Smart Home
- Health Care
- Smart Cities
- Agriculture
- Industrial Automation
IoT technology has been evolving even prior to the pandemic situation, and there are a lot of IoT devices that can be leveraged. The challenge will be finding the specific solutions to meet the pressing business challenges.
