Digital Technology to Assess Safeguard Impacts
How can digital technologies help us remotely assess and classify the impact on land, assets, people, and environment?
APPLICATION PROCESS
Application: Proposals should be submitted on or before August 31 2020 at 17:00 [GMT +8].
The proposals should include the following:
- Team Introduction: We are looking for a combination of design engineers, social and environmental safeguard specialists, GIS specialists, as well as other subject matter experts. Please include the name and professional background (including CV) for all members of the team submitting applications.
- Presentation document with (i) topics/issues covered by the challenge and the proposed approach and solution; (ii) details on the underpinning technology, data, detailed steps, and resource inputs (iii) details of permits or any user restrictions, and potential limitations if any, and proposals to address those (v) details on the reliability of the alternative data sources proposed to be used to bridge the data and/or information gap (e.g. outdated aerial imagery/maps, supplementary cadastral data, etc.) (vi) details of any requirement for special skills set and proposed gap filling and capacity building (vii) details on potential applicability/scalability and respective considerations in the long run; (viii) a demo of the proposed approach (not more than 5 minutes). The proposed approach will be uploaded and viewed in SPADE.
Evaluation: Up to 10 submissions will be shortlisted to proceed by the end of the round. Shortlisted teams will be notified in September.
Mentoring: The shortlisted teams will connect with ADB experts and/or other subject matter experts to further understand the context and refine the proposed solution. The teams will also be invited to engage and submit questions in a webinar that will be facilitated by ADB together with different speakers. The mentoring process will start after the announcement of shortlisted teams.
Pitching: The shortlisted teams will have an opportunity to present their final solutions to the Jury, including a required live demonstration of tools, methods, and findings. Participants will be required to upload their proposal on the platform and will be notified shortly on the date.
