ADB-PATH Innovations Challenge - Taking innovations to primary health care effectively.

Timeline

SELECTION CRITERIA

The projects will be assessed following the criteria below:

  • Product Stage (20%) - The stage of the technology as per the technology readiness levels defined. We are looking for TRL 8 or plus level innovative solutions applied in their final form and are operational. Refer to TRL description for more details.

  • Evidence-Based  Validation (20%) - The technology will be reviewed clinical or other validation data. Published data will be given more weightage.

  • Operational Scalability (20%) - The technology will be evaluated on its performance data from real-world deployments (pilot or large scale). Existing deployments, their effectiveness study, or the feasibility assessment of deployment in the DMC of interest will also be evaluated (in case done).

  • Innovativeness (10%) - The viability and feasibility of the technological solution from a technical, economic, and social context to be scaled-up. The extent to which the proposed budget is realistic, within scope, and accounts for unknown challenges. The feasibility of implementing the solution at scale.

  • Usability and Acceptability (10%) - The technology will be evaluated on end-user and healthcare acceptance along with programmatic fit in the DMC of interest.

  • Introduction Roadmap for the target DMC (10%) - Assessment of the market entry plan, key strategic ideas on introduction in the DMC of interest including plans to navigate the necessary regulatory approvals.

  • Team (10%) - The technology will also be evaluated on the core team capabilities, strength and complementarities.

  • The program will select the best innovations in medical devices, diagnostics, and digital health at TRL 8 or 9 (Figure Ia) that address at least one of the following areas of primary healthcare (Figure Ib) following an assessment based on the validation data, economic effectiveness, feasibility, scalability in geographies of interest (Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan), and impact.
