Digital Technology to Increase Credit Access for MSMEs

How might we increase the inclusivity of scoring mechanisms of financial service providers without compromising accuracy and transparency and while defeating discrimination?

Participants may need to use sensitive data to complete their challenge. If data needed are available and are able to provide by ADB, you are required to sign a Fair Data Use Agreement. The Agreement is available for download from the "Fair Data Use Agreement" tab of this page. You are required to sign, upload, and submit the Agreement on the same tab.
 
The proposal should be submitted by July 10, 2020 with a deadline set at 2359 hrs [GMT +8]. The following content should be provided:
 
  • Team Introduction: Name and professional background (including short 1-page CV) for all members of the team submitting applications.
 
  • Presentation with (i) idea and value proposition; (ii) details on the core technology, data inputs, and research methodology, (iii) evidence of accuracy of prediction of borrower’s credit worthiness, (iv) explanation on why selected data are logical proxies for credit behavior, and (v) details on how to maintain the product in the long run.

EVALUATION PHASE

JULY 17 2020 
 
Proposals need not cover all the areas of interest above or even all the aspects within an area of interest. The voters (composed of the Jury) may evaluate and select the winning submission based on the following criteria: 
 
  • Business Value 30%
  • Operational Feasibility & Scalability 30%
  • User Experience 20%
  • Technical Competency 20%
 
Up to 10 submissions will be evaluated and shortlisted to proceed by the end of the round. Shortlisted teams will be notified by July 17, 2020.

MENTORING PHASE

JULY 20 - 31, 2020
 
 
Shortlisted teams may be paired with ADB experts and other subject matter experts to further understand the context of the problem and refine the proposed solution. The teams will also be invited to engage and submit questions in a webinar that will be facilitated by ADB together with different speakers.

PITCHING PHASE

AUGUST 11, 2020
 
 
The 10 shortlisted teams will have an opportunity to present their final solutions to the Jury, including a required live demonstration of tools, methods, and findings. Participants are required to upload their Deliverable by July 30, 2020 at 1800 hrs [GMT +8]. The Challenge Pitching will take place on August 3, 2020.
 
Winners will be announced on August 7, 2020.
