JOINING THE CHALLENGE
- Do I need to get my supervisor's approval to apply for this challenge?
For ADB teams - Before applying you should be sure that you can manage your workload and the work for the challenge and we recommend informing your supervisors. If you are selected at the Final Pitching Event to develop your project further, you will present your idea on an event open to the entire ADB community. It will be better if your manager knows about your participation in advance of this event.
- What if my manager will not support my participation?
In the unlikely case that your manager will not approve your participation, please discuss with your Human Resources Department to get support in convincing your manager or further understanding the circumstances at hand.
- Is there a minimum number of years of experience to apply for this challenge?
There is no minimum years of experience to apply for this challenge. The only requirement we are looking for is that the staff member has a great idea. Please note that we also require a strong commitment from the staff member to work on the idea, so they must be able to manage the time and workload independently.
- My staff members would like to join the challenge. If they are selected, will they leave my team?
During the entire duration of the challenge, staff remain in the existing positions with their existing responsibilities. They will stay in your team even if they are selected as the winner of the challenge. Teams are expected to consider the roles and responsibilities of the team members in the application and design of the solution, and how they can implement the pilot if selected as the winner. It can include arrangements such as contracting consultants or service providers to implement the solutions. Therefore, the amount of time to be spent from the core team members can be arranged at the supervisory level to be determined by the teams.
WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?
- How am I compensated if I am selected for the seed funding?
For ADB participants, your compensation will remain the same, including your salary and all existing benefits. Organizers will not be providing compensation for participation and implementation of the project, but the winning teams will have an opportunity to receive a seed funding of USD 10,0000 that can be used to pilot test the idea by recruiting consultants. It is up to the team to decide how to make best use of the seed fund to implement the project. If the winning team is from ADB, all team members will be offered training on TEDx style ideas sharing free of charge.
MANAGING THE WORKLOAD
- Am I required to work full-time on the idea during the challenge?
You are not expected to work full time on the idea during the challenge. Any effort put into the Challenge, until your team is selected, is on top of your current role. You are expected to exercise good time and workload management.
- Will I get support in developing my pitch before the Final Pitching Day?
